The project
The brief
The column was about neighbours, and the editor wanted the cat to be the real main character.
How it was made
I drew the cat from life over a week of mornings, then simplified the railing so the shape of the body carried the picture.
The result
The cat became the column’s regular, and he has appeared in every season since.
